Potential students may apply to any of the Great Zimbabwe University undergraduates, postgraduate, masters, diploma, doctorate, bachelors, pre-masters, distant education learning, International, Ph.D. programs (Courses) at any time and be admitted subject to fulfilling all Great Zimbabwe University admission entry requirements for the 2023 academic year.

GARY MAGADZIRE SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL SCIENCES
Programme Entry Requirements
Bachelor of Science Honours Degree (4 years Conventional/ 3 years Block Release)·Geography and Environmental Science

·Statistics and Operations Research

.Computer Sciences

 

Normal Entrya) At least five (5) ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or better.

b) At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes in the relevant subjects or their recognised equivalents.

c) For Computer Science and Statistics and Operations Research, at least two (2) ‘A’ level passes including Mathematics or its recognized equivalents.

Special Entry                                                                          

Candidates who possess a Certificate/Diploma in Education in which Geography, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or its recognised equivalent is one of the major subjects studied will also be considered.

Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Agriculture (4 years Conventional/ 3 Years  Block Release for candidates who are already working in a related area of specialization ) ·Soil and Plant Sciences

.Livestock, Wildlife and Fisheries

 

Normal Entrya)       At least five (5) ‘O’ level passes including English Language,  Mathematics and any Science Subject at Grade C or better.

b)       At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any of the following subjects: Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography and Mathematics.

 

Special Entry

a)       At least five (5) ‘O’ level passes including English Language,  Geography and any Science Subject at Grade C or better.

b)        For Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Agriculture (Soil and Plant Sciences), candidates should possess a Diploma in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Forestry or any relevant Diploma from a recognised College/ University.

c)       For Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Agriculture (Livestock, Wildlife and Fisheries), candidates should possess a Diploma in Agriculture/ Wildlife/ Fisheries/ Animal Health or any relevant Diploma from a recognised College/ University.

Note that for applicants with Diplomas, ‘O’ Level Mathematics is not a requirement

Bachelor of Science Special Honours Degree (1 year  Block Release)·Geography and Environmental Science

Normal Entrya) A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject or its equivalent with a minimum of a 2.2 degree class.

 

 

Certificate in Sugarcane Agriculture (1 year  Block Release)  Normal EntryPasses with credit in at least five Ordinary Level subjects including English language and any Science subject. Mathematics is an added advantage

 

Special Entry

At least 25 years of age and proven three (3) years agricultural experience especially in a sugarcane environment or equivalent.

b)       Holders of relevant Diplomas and relevant working experience as well as recommendation letter from the employer or other referees will also be considered

Mature Entry

Applicants should have at least 5 ‘O’ level passes or equivalent, including English language, and be at least 25 years of age. In addition, a candidate may be required to undertake an entry examination administered by the School as part of the process of satisfying entry requirements for admission to the programme.

Bachelor of Arts Dual Honours Degree in African Languages and Religious Studies (BA HALRS) (4 year conventional)  Normal Entrya)       Applicants should have at least 5 ‘O’ level passes or equivalent, including English language, plus at least 2 ‘A’ level passes (inclusive of African languages and Divinity/Religious Studies).

Special Entry

a)       Applicants should have at least 5 ‘O’ level passes or equivalent, including English language, and any relevant Certificate/Diploma from a recognized institution. In addition, a pass in any ‘O’ Level African Languages and Religious Studies is a pre-requisite.

Mature Entry

Applicants should have at least 5 ‘O’ level passes or equivalent, including English language, and be at least 25 years of age. A pass in an ‘O’ Level African Languages and Religious Studies is a pre-requisite. NB/ Master of Arts in Literary Studies is a Masters Degree by coursework and research, a combination that offers prospective students a unique opportunity to acquire dynamic ways of reading texts across a broad range of canons and endows students with research skills to be innovative future researchers.

Normal Entrya)       Five (5) ‘O’ level passes or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics at grade C or better.

b)        2 ‘A’ level passes including at least one commercial subject or Mathematics.

c)        In approved cases, holders of an appropriate Higher National Diploma may qualify for entry into the programmes.

d)       For Office Management, a Diploma in Secretarial Studies will also be considered for entry into the programme.

·  Applicants for Block Release Programmes must attach Confirmation of Employment letters that include their duties and duration of employment on current job.

·Office Management and Internal Auditing are offered on a block release basis only.

NB. All Block Release Undergraduate Commerce Programmes are only available for the Masvingo Classes.

a)       Applicants must be holders of a first degree  with at least a lower second class grade or better in any of the following:

c) At least two (2) years teaching experience at secondary school level and should be able to provide proof of such experience in the form of a confirmation letter from the School Head or District Education Officer

NOTE: Candidates who successfully complete the Bridging Programme will be eligible to study for the Bachelor of Education Honours Degree (Secondary In-service) programme whose duration is two and a half years (Block Release)

Bachelor of Education Honours Degree in Special Needs Education  (In-Service)  (21/2Years Block Release)

d) A teaching Certificate or Diploma at primary or secondary level or a qualification in Special Needs Education/Disability Studies recognized by the University.

e) Completed at least two (2) years of post-training (qualification) educational experience recognized by the University.

Special Entry (Block Release)

a) At least 5 O’Level passes at Grade C or better including English Language

b) Relevant Diplomas and relevant working experience as well as recommendation letter from the employer or other referees.

c) All programmes are available on Block Release for Masvingo Classes.

d) BSc Honours Gender and Social Anthropology is going to be offered on Block Release for the first (1st) time for Masvingo class.

Bachelor of Science Special Honours Degree in Psychology (1 Year Block Release) Normal Entrya) Applicants must hold an appropriate general degree with a minimum of a 2.2 degree class pass.

b) Applicants who do not meet normal entry requirements, may, subject to the approval of the Senate, be admitted through Special Entry.

 

HERBERT CHITEPO LAW SCHOOL
Programme Entry Requirements
Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree (LLB) (5 years Conventional)  Normal Entrya)       At least five (5) ‘O’ level passes including English Language at Grade B or better.

b)       At least three (3) good ‘A’ level passes in Arts and     Humanities or their equivalent.

Special Entry                                                                          

a)       Candidates who possess relevant qualifications in the legal field or qualifications with substantial legal content at Diploma level will also be considered or

b)       A good first degree

Notes

(a)      Applicants for normal entry must attach a confidential letter of recommendation from the last high school attended.

(b)     Applicants in the special entry category must attach a confidential letter of recommendation from their Head of Organisation.

(c)      Applicants must also obtain and attach police clearance.

(d)     Shortlisted applicants will be subjected to interviews before admission into the programme.
