List of JAMB Prohibited Items in Exam Hall 2019 – Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the list of strictly restricted/prohibited items in the 2019/2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) hall.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has banned the use of 16 items in the forthcoming examinations

The list of prohibited Items was released by the JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups to members of the Civil Society Group. The items are:

  1. Wrist watches
  2. Pen/biro,
  3. Mobile phones or similar electronic devices,
  4. Spy reading glasses which should be scrutinised,
  5. Calculators or similar electronic devices,
  6. USB, CD, hard disks and/or similar storage devices,
  7. Books or any reading/writing material,
  8. Cameras,
  9. Recorders,
  10. Microphones,
  11. Ear pieces,
  12. Ink/pen readers,
  13. Smart lenses,
  14. Smart rings/jewellery,
  15. Smart buttons ; and
  16. Bluetooth devices.

The Civil Society Group is one of the groups inaugurated by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, to assist in monitoring the UTME.

Last year, the groups were reputed to have assisted in giving information from the field and transmitted several challenges, as applicable, to JAMB officials. Examination malpractices were said to have reduced through the JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups.

According to the JAMB UTME Monitoring Groups, examination officials are allowed to scrutinise eye glasses or similar devices and where convinced that such item may compromise the sanctity of the examination, the examination official should confiscate it.

Where examination official (board staff or ad hoc staff) or any authorised person is found with any of these prohibited items in the examination hall, such compromising action would be treated as a deliberate act of examination sabotage and necessary sanction will be applied.
