Civil Society Organizations
This broad category covers many types of groups working on the ground. It includes non-governmental organizations (NGOs), trade and professional associations, faith-based organizations, labor unions, social movements, think tanks, research institutes, and networks or platforms focused on pluralism.
Social Enterprises and Corporations
Businesses that integrate pluralism into their operations and impact are also encouraged to apply. This includes both social enterprises with a mission focused on inclusion and larger corporations, whether public or private, that demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equitable practices.
Educational, Health, Research, and Policy Institutions
Institutions that play a role in shaping understanding and policy are eligible. This encompasses public and private entities in education, healthcare, research, and policy development that are actively promoting pluralistic values.
Individuals
The award also recognizes the contributions of individuals. This can include artists, entrepreneurs, journalists, academics, policymakers, filmmakers, and others who are making a significant personal impact in advancing pluralism through their work and advocacy.
Eligibility Requirements
To ensure fairness and focus, the Global Pluralism Award has specific eligibility criteria that applicants must meet. These requirements are designed to identify candidates who are actively living and working towards pluralistic ideals.
Candidates must be alive at the time of application, as the award cannot be granted posthumously. Furthermore, individuals or organizations who have previously applied more than once or have already received the award or an honorable mention are not eligible to reapply.
Employees and grantees of the Global Centre for Pluralism are also excluded, as are those associated with its founding partners, the Government of Canada and the Aga Khan Development Network. However, partner or grantee organizations of these entities may be eligible.
Members of the Award Jury, the Centre’s Board, staff, or current consultants are ineligible, as are close relatives and organizations operated by these individuals. Finally, candidates must not directly or indirectly support terrorism, criminal activity, or individuals or organizations listed on Canadian anti-terrorism laws or UN Security Council sanctions lists.
Award Benefits

More importantly, they will become part of a global network of pluralism leaders.
