www.uon.ac.ke tuition fees: Below is the official University of Nairobi (UON) school fees schedule to be paid by each student respectively for the 2024/2025 academic session is out.
The following policies and procedures are applicable to all students who officially register for programmes at the University of Nairobi. The University reserves the right to change fees without prior notice to the student. However, fee changes are subject to approval by the Governing Council.
University of Nairobi School Fees Structure.
The University of Nairobi has a non-discriminatory fees policy. International students are charged the same fees as Kenyan students.
Fees are payable in US Dollars. Such fees are levied according to the programme, as shown on the respective Faculty Websites.

Academic (Tuition) Fees
This is fees that the student pays to be taught. The charges are specific to academic programmes. They items paid for include:
- Tuition Fees
- Laboratory
- Fieldwork
- Project/Thesis Supervision
- Clinical teaching
- Teaching Practice
- Practicum
- Industrial Visits/Supervision
- Workshops and Projects Design, Project for Engineering students and any other instructional activities approved by Senate
NOTE:
The University of Nairobi has the right to change tuition fees in line with the average annual inflation rate announced by the Bank of Kenya. Any change of annual fees will be announced by the Council of the Institution, before the commencement of the academic year.
Payment and fees structure for government sponsored students
Students must take note of the following while making payments:
All fees and other charges are payable before the commencement of the academic year as per the respective fees structure.
No student shall be allowed into lectures, examinations rooms or participate in any activities where fees for the year is not fully paid.
Channels for fees payments;
- Electronic transfer/direct cash deposit
- Credit/debit card payments

When paying fees at the bank; new and continuing students MUST quote the Student Registration Number.

- All cash deposits to our bank account will reflect on the students’ fees statements after 48 hours of deposit done. The updated students’ fees statement will be viewed by the students on the students’ portal online portal (http://smis.uonbi.ac.ke/)
- Any payment that does not reflect within 48hrs, Kindly scan the banking slip/transfer details and send to the Bursar of the respective college above by email for reconciliation and receipting.
- Payments by electronic transfers should be supported by credit advice from the remitting bank. The credit advice should be emailed to the emails as above for verification and receipting.
- Funds from Sponsors such as Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), National Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF), and County Governments Bursaries etc. shall updated on the Students accounts upon receipt of funds and beneficiaries schedules.

University of Nairobi Fees Payment Procedures
The procedure for fees payment is as follows:
- Check fees payable for the Semester
- Identify/select payment mode
Payment by different modes:
a. Direct Bank Deposit; EFT; RTGS
i. You may pay your fees in any ABSA Bank branch anywhere in the country using the following accounts:
ii. Confirm your Registration/Reference Number
iii. Enter the your correct name
iv. Proceed to make the deposit
v. Retrieve the bank confirmation slip or SMS and keep it securely
b. Mobile Money Transfer
i. Go to MPESA Menu on your mobile phone
ii. Select Lipa na MPESA
iii. Go to Paybill
iv. Enter Paybill number as 300059
v. Enter Account number, that is the student registration number (E.g. D61/1234/2019)
vi. Enter the fees amount
vii. You will receive a confirmation message from Mpesa.
- Wait for your student portal to be credited within 2 hours
- Confirm receipt of payment in your student portal
Procedure for fees payment by international students
The procedure for fees payment for international students is as follows:
- Check fees payable
- Ascertain the current exchange rate
- Proceed to make payment into the designated account below in USD.
International Students:

During Payment:
a) Confirm your Registration/Reference Number
b) Enter the your correct name
c) Proceed to make the deposit
d) Retrieve the bank confirmation slip
