Interested students may apply to any of the University of Technology (U-Tech) Faculty of Engineering and Computing at any time and get admitted subject to fulfilling the U-Tech admission entry requirements for the 2023/2024 academic year.

UTech Faculty of Engineering and Computing Admission Requirements

School of Computing and Information Technology

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)  in Animation Production and Development (UBSANDPFXU1A) 
  • 5 CSEC/GCE O-Level passes inclusive of English Language and Mathematics at grade 1, 2 and 3 (from June 1998) or GCE O-Level passes at A, B or C or equivalent
  • Visual Arts is a preferred subject
  • Applicants are required to submit a portfolio
 
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Computing (UBSCOMPFXU1A)with majors in:
– Computer Science
– Information Technology 
  • 5 CSEC/GCE O-Level passes inclusive of English Language and Mathematics at grade 1, 2 and 3 (from June 1998) or GCE O-Level passes at A, B or C or equivalent.
  • An interview may be required.

  • (a) Five (5) CSEC/GCE O- level English Language, Mathematics, Physics and 2 other (Technical or Science related) subjects PLUS GCE A-level Mathematics, Physics and one other relevant subject OR Six (6) CAPE Units including Physics Units I and II, Mathematics Units I and II and two (2) other units in related subjects. OR
  • (b) B.Eng in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from UTech, Jamaica (completion of a rationalization semester at UTech may be required) OR 
  • (c) Successful completion of Year One of the Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical with a minimum GPA of 3.05 OR 
  • (d) UTech, Jamaica Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Technology (for Advanced Placement) with a minimum GPA of 2.7 (An interview may be required) OR
  • (e) B. Tech from CASE (for Advanced Placement) with a minimum GPA of 2.7 after completion of a rationalization semester at CASE. (An interview may be required) OR
  • (f) Associate Degree or Diploma in Agriculture from a recognised institution (for Advanced Placement) with a minimum GPA of 2.7 after completion of a rationalization year at UTech or CASE. (An interview may be required).
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Chemical Engineering (UBECHENFXU1A) 
  • (a) Five (5) CSEC/GCE ordinary level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and one (1) other (Technical or Science related) subject PLUS three (3) GCE A-level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry OR Six (6) CAPE Units including Physics Units I and II, Mathematics Units I and II and Chemistry Units I and II (grades I to V). (An interview may be required). OR 
  • (b) Successful completion of Year One of the Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.05 OR 
  • (c) Successful completion of UTech Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent field of study (for Advanced Placement) with a minimum GPA of 2.7(An interview may be required) OR
  • (d) Successful completion of Associate Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent field of study from an approved institution (for Advanced Placement) with a minimum GPA of 2.7 (An interview may be required).
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Civil Engineering Options:(UBECIENFXU1A) 
– Construction
– Environmental
– Structures
– Transportation 
  • (a) Five (5) CSEC/GCE O- level English Language, Mathematics, Physics and 2 other (Technical or Science related) subjects PLUS GCE A-level Mathematics, Physics and one other relevant subjects OR Six (6) CAPE Units including Physics Units I and II, Mathematics Units I and II and two (2) other units in related subjects. OR
  • (b) Successful completion of Year One of the Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical with a minimum GPA of 3.05 OR
  • (c) Successful completion of UTech B.Eng. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (advanced placement to level 2) OR
  • (d) UTech, Jamaica Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (may enter the programme at the beginning of level 2). OR
  • (e) Associate Degree in Engineering from Montego Bay, Portmore, or Knox Community College or any other approved institution with a minimum GPA of 2.7 (may enter the programme at the beginning of level 2).
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (UBEELCEFXU1A)
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Industrial Engineering (UBEINENFXU1A)
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mechanical Engineering (UBEMEENFXU1A)
  • a) Five (5) CSEC/GCE O- level English Language, Mathematics, Physics and 2 other (Technical or Science related) subjects PLUS GCE A-level Mathematics, Physics and one other relevant subject OR Six (6) CAPE Units including Physics Units I and II, Mathematics Units I and II and two (2) other units in related subjects. OR 
  • (b) Successful completion of Year One of the Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.05. OR 
  • (c) Successful completion of UTech Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent in field of study (for Advanced Placement) with a minimum GPA of 2.7. OR
  • (d) Successful completion of Associate of Science Degree in Engineering from Montego Bay, Portmore, or Knox Community College with a minimum GPA of 2.7; may enter the programme at the beginning of level 2. Applicants from any other approved institutions will be assessed based on individual merits. Interview may be required.
