The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is a public urban research university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is the largest university in the Milwaukee metropolitan area and a member of the University of Wisconsin System. It is also one of the two doctoral degree-granting research universities in Wisconsin and the second-largest university in the state.
UWM was founded with the belief that Milwaukee needed a great public university to become a great city. The university consists of 14 schools and colleges, including the only graduate school of freshwater science in the U.S., the first CEPH-accredited dedicated school of public health in Wisconsin, and the state’s only school of architecture.
UWM offers more than 200 academic programs to nearly 27,000 students. The university’s acceptance rate is 86.3%, making it a moderately selective school. In-state tuition and fees are $9,620, while out-of-state tuition and fees are $21,485.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Scholarships for International Students
UWM offers a scholarship program specifically for newly admitted international undergraduate students. These scholarships are awarded based on a combination of academic merit and the diversity the applicant brings to the university. There are two scholarship options to consider:
- International Student Scholarship (Fall Start): This scholarship awards up to $6,000 per year ($2,250 per semester) for undergraduate freshmen and transfer students starting their studies in the fall semester.
- International Student Scholarship (Spring Start): Similar to the fall scholarship, this award offers up to $6,000 per year ($3,000 per semester) for undergraduate freshmen and transfer students starting in the spring semester.
