The Council’s Workforce Equality Strategy sets out a plan for the Council to be representative of the communities that we serve at all levels and for all our people to be able to bring their whole selves to work.

We want to build an inclusive Council and we are improving our support to disabled employees and those with a long-term health condition by creating a Workplace Adjustment Hub.

The Workplace Adjustment Hub will provide support, advice and guidance on reasonable workplace adjustments ensuring these are effective, timely and support our people to thrive.

This is a new service, and we are recruiting a highly motivated and enthusiastic team that are passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion and support for our disabled employees and employees with a long-term health condition(s).

The Workplace Adjustments Case Worker will take a key role in the delivery of the workplace adjustments hub service:

  • Complete Workplace Adjustment risk assessments, advise and support clients and line managers through the adjustment process
  • Coordinate the procurement of adaptive equipment/software and/or specialist support to meet the adjustment needs of clients
  • Work with stakeholder services including ICT, Estates and Health & Safety, on behalf of employees to ensure a timely delivery of adjustments
  • Advise managers on the implementation of workplace adjustments and embed good practice across the Council.
  • Support Lead Case Worker with complex cases
  • Support Workplace Adjustments Manager to improve service delivery and effective implementation of workplace adjustments
  • Actively engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver workplace adjustments and disability awareness related work for an assigned area of Council activities through the personal delivery of assignments, advice, training and guidance.
  • Engage with clients to evaluate the effectiveness of workplace adjustments

Salary: £30,825 – £33,024

Hours: 35 per week

This role is office based with home working where appropriate. You will be able to work flexibly, from home or remotely some of the time but will need to work across Council sites or offices in support of colleagues and clients.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual who is a strong advocate for promoting positive outcomes for disabled employees and those with long-term health conditions, creating a more inclusive work environment. You will have experience working in areas such as Occupational Health and Safety, HR, Assessment / support of disabled adults, Employee Welfare, Social Work, or other relevant work experience. You will have an understanding of workplace adjustments, the social model of disability and recognise the barriers a disabled staff member can experience in the workplace.

Being able to implement a strengths-based approach will allow you to focus on enabling staff members to thrive in the workplace. You will be pragmatic and able to consider the needs of all stakeholders and are able to clearly explain the decision-making process behind adjustments, promoting transparency and understanding.

Your strong communication skills will allow you to support employees and their line managers in reaching solutions and promote best practice across the council. Your ability to build strong relationship with clients and stakeholder services will be an asset in delivering and developing the service offer.
