Zambian Open University Graduation Ceremony

The Zambian Open University (ZAOU) wishes to inform the graduating students who successfully completed their degrees and diplomas, by December, 2020, that the University will conduct a virtual graduation ceremony on Friday, 28th May, 2021. The decision to conduct a virtual ceremony is in compliance with the measures announced by the Government to combat the effect of the pandemic, which include the banning of large gatherings. This will enable graduands to get their certificates, without waiting for too long. The arrangements for the virtual graduation ceremony are as follows:

  • The date for the virtual graduation ceremony is Friday, 28th May, 2021.
  • All students who successfully completed their studies by December, 2020 are expected to graduate.
  • The University is making arrangements to broadcast the virtual ceremony on the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC).

Graduands are advised to check below for the full list of graduands. The graduation ceremony will be presided over by the Chancellor and other councils who will award Diplomas and Certificates and confer Degrees.

The ceremony will be broadcast by ZNBC on Friday, 28th May, 2021 starting at 10. 00 hours

Examination Results

The results of the examinations are available from the offices of the respective Deans of Faculties/Schools during working hours.

Registration and Fees

The deadline for payment of the graduation fee and registration is Friday, 7th May, 2021. The following are graduation fees:

  • PhD degree : ZMW5, 000.00
  • Masters’ degree : ZMW3, 000.00
  • Bachelors’ degree : ZMW2, 500.00
  • Diploma : ZMW2, 350.00

Registration is taking place at our two campuses in Lusaka West and the Lusaka Regional Centre in town on Ben Bella road. Payment may also be made at any of the Zambian Open University Regional Centres. However, if you cannot register in person, at the Lusaka West Campus or the Regional Centre in town on Ben Bella road, after paying the graduation fee, please inform Mr. Bedson Katyamba or Mr. Basil Lengalenga (contact details above).

Clearance

Graduating students will be required to clear with the accounts office before registering for graduation at the Lusaka West campus, failure to which they will not be allowed to graduate.

Any potential graduand whose name is not on the list is expected to visit his/her School immediately.

Verification Of Academic Records And Order Of Names

Graduands must ensure that all courses taken in their program of study have been graded and passed and that there are no missing courses or grades.

Photography

Graduands are required to send soft copies of portrait pictures preferably in graduation regalia. To send the picture, complete an electronic form and attach. The electronic form can be found on the ZAOU website (www.zaou.ac.zm) and Facebook page. The picture should be in high resolution and the size must be 1920 x 1080. The deadline for submission of pictures is Friday, 7th May, 2021.

Punctuality

Graduands must take seats by 7.30 am and invited guests are expected to be seated by 8.00 am.

Please deposit money for academic dress in the ZAOU Bank account indicated in 5 above as you deposit the participation fee. Also NOTE that no graduand shall be allowed to graduate if he/she will not wear the prescribed dress bought from the University.
