Bergrivier Municipality is offering two Human Resources Internship positions for 2026. This program gives South African graduates a chance to gain hands-on experience in municipal HR. It runs for 12 months in Piketberg, Western Cape, with a stipend of R78,000 per year.

Program Overview

The Bergrivier Municipality Human Resources Internship partners with the Local Government SETA to build skills in local government. Interns get practical training in HR processes that match municipal rules. The goal is to prepare you for a career in human resources while supporting service delivery.

Who Can Apply

You need basic knowledge of HR services, good communication skills, and attention to detail. Report writing ability and a sense of responsibility are key. A diploma in Human Resource Management is preferred.

You must also speak at least two official Western Cape languages, such as Afrikaans, English, or Xhosa. Preference goes to locals from the Bergrivier area (WC013). All applicants must follow the Employment Equity Act.

Main Duties

Interns help with several HR tasks. These include applying Municipal Staff Regulations, handling labour relations, and managing personnel administration. You will also support occupational health and safety, plus training and development programs.

  • CV no longer than 3 pages
  • Certified copies of ID, qualifications, and certificates (not older than 3 months)

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates face police clearance, interviews, and evaluations. If no feedback comes in 6 weeks, your application did not succeed. Only contacted applicants move forward.
