Some Students generate their own companies providing employment for others. The Department enjoys a rapport with Industry and commerce, with a number of companies sponsoring competitions during each academic year.

The Department encourages, in the student, cultural awareness, professionalism, self respect and respect for others. The Artists and Designers who leave the Department are a very important link in influencing the Purchasing orientation of an increasingly consumer aware public at home, while promoting Zimbabwean products and attractions in foreign markets.
