Available Internship Opportunities

The CPSI is offering internships in two specific fields for 2026/2027:

  • Intern: Internal Audit
  • Intern: Legal Services

What the Internship Offers

Successful interns will gain significant exposure and practical experience in their chosen fields. This includes learning about audit plans, project execution, and report preparation for Internal Audit roles. For Legal Services, interns will be involved in drafting legal opinions, litigation, and contract management.

The programme provides a monthly stipend to support interns during their 24-month tenure. Participants will also develop essential professional skills, gain insights into government operations, and build a foundation for a career in public service.

Programme Duration and Location

This internship programme has a duration of 24 months. All positions are based in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for these internship opportunities, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Senior Certificate/Grade 12.
  • Possess a recognised National Diploma or Degree at NQF Level 6/7 for the Internal Audit position.
  • Hold a recognised Law Degree at NQF Level 7 for the Legal Services position.
  • Be currently unemployed.
  • Membership of the Siyakhula Student Membership Programme/Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIASA) will be an advantage for the Internal Audit role.
  • Practical Legal Training will be an advantage for the Legal Services role.

Competencies Required

Successful candidates should demonstrate a range of skills and personal qualities. These include computer literacy, strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, and good written and verbal communication skills. An understanding of client orientation and the importance of maintaining confidentiality is also essential.

For the Internal Audit role, specific duties involve developing audit plans, executing audit engagements, and preparing audit reports. For Legal Services, duties include drafting legal opinions, assisting with litigation, and working with contracts and legislation.
