ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of the role is to provide a continuous input and support into maintenance and project planning activities at various the business unit and to apply the planning processes at an operational level. To follow the Work Management Process principals. Controlling a budget and to ensure a productive and motivated workforce.
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
- Carry out engineering planning activities for specific sections / departments that optimize sweating of assets ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Finance – Ensures that engineering planning activities are achieved in the most cost effective manner possible. Be able to manage OT
- Trains and coaches fellow employees and learners and ensures own career development
- Report on progress, corrective action, deviation reporting, production tonnage reporting, make information available in format as agreed by the planning department to the business units engineering personnel
- Safe Production – Support departments to achieve set targets by coordinating planning within appointed area of responsibility.
- Implements new methodologies and technology, within the planning environment aligned with the Sasol Mining strategy and reports back on effectiveness.
- SHE – Accountable for striving towards best in class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metric.
- Establish a network of internal and external experts to consult and guide the maintenance planning strategy.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science AND and Engineering Occupational Trade Qualification (NQF 4) :
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Planner or a Senior Artisan ;minimum of 4 years total work experience
OR
- NQF 2 AND Planning Learner ship:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Planner; minimum of 4 years total work experience
OR
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science AND Internal Technical Training:
- Minimum of 2 years as a Planner; minimum of 8 years total work experience
AND
- Valid red ticket (or able to obtain one)
- Knowledge of specific machinery : Continuous miner, Shuttlecar, Roofbolt, Buffalo Conveyor Belts & Switchgear
- Computer Literate (SAP (MOR), Windows and EXCEL (must)
- Drivers License must (Code 10 PDP wish)

- Influx of new technology that requires highly skilled workforce to manage the complexity
