Gert Sibande TVET College and INSETA Launch Work Integrated Learning Programme

Gert Sibande TVET College, in partnership with the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA), is offering a valuable Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme for 2026. This 18-month opportunity is designed to provide unemployed students with essential practical workplace experience, aiming to boost their employability within the insurance sector. The programme will place successful candidates in insurance organizations across the Gert Sibande Region, offering hands-on experience and industry exposure.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to students who have completed N4 to N6 qualifications or hold a DHET Statement of Results in specific Report 191 Business Studies programs. These fields include Management Assistant, Human Resource Management, and Financial Management. The programme is specifically for those who need practical experience to complete their studies and improve their job prospects.

Programme Details

The Work Integrated Learning Programme is set to run for a duration of 18 months. During this period, participants will gain practical skills and knowledge directly within the insurance industry. This experience is crucial for bridging the gap between academic learning and the demands of the professional world.

Essential Requirements for Applicants

To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet several criteria. They need to be between 18 and 35 years old and be a South African citizen. Crucially, applicants must be unemployed, have no criminal record, and be proficient in English. A willingness to work within the insurance sector and funeral parlours is also a requirement.

Furthermore, individuals should not currently be studying or planning to study during the programme. Participation in any other learnership, internship, or training program is also a disqualifier. Applicants must be registered or former students of Gert Sibande TVET College and possess N4 to N6 Certificates or a DHET Statement of Results in one of the qualifying fields. The college specifically discourages applications from students currently volunteering, especially outside the insurance industry.

Documents Needed for Application

A comprehensive set of documents is required for all applications. This includes an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) and an originally certified copy of your South African ID. You will also need originally certified copies of your Matric Certificate and your NCV Certificate, if applicable. Finally, originally certified copies of your N4, N5, and N6 Certificates or your DHET Statement of Results are mandatory. It is important to note that all certified documents must not be older than six months.
