Harmony Gold is opening doors for South African youth with its Learnership Programme for 2026/2027. If you are unemployed and interested in mining trades, this is your chance to gain skills in artisan and engineering fields. Applications close on 30 April 2026, so start preparing now.

Learnership Overview

Harmony Gold runs one of the biggest gold mining companies in South Africa. The learnership offers structured training and real work experience. It helps learners build practical skills needed in the mining industry.

Available Learnership Fields

You can apply for these trades:

• Rigger
• Boilermaker / Plater
• Fitter

Each field teaches hands-on skills for mining operations.

Minimum Requirements

You must meet all these to qualify:

• Technical Grade 12, or
• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science (at least 50%), or
• N2 qualification with relevant trade theory subjects, or
• NCV Level 4 with Mathematics (at least 50%) and related trade theory.

Maths Literacy does not count.

Additional Requirements

Besides the basics, you need to:

• Show proof of residence.
• Be medically fit.
• Pass psychometric assessments.
• Have good English communication skills.
• Work well in a team.
• Be ready for overtime and standby shifts.
• Follow health and safety rules.

Added Advantages

These will make your application stronger:

• N6 or Diploma in Engineering Studies.
• Driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Past qualification in the trade you want.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates get contacted for next steps. You will need a medical fitness check and an interview. If no feedback comes in 3 months after 30 April 2026, your application did not succeed.
