Internship Details and Remuneration

The designation is “Internship,” and the location is 222 Smit Street, Braamfontein. The duration is a maximum of 18 months. Successful interns will receive a monthly remuneration of R10,109.86. It is important to note that no additional benefits are provided with this internship. The required qualification level is a completed qualification with a minimum of 360 credits.

Minimum Requirements for Applicants

To be considered for this internship, applicants must possess a Matric or Grade 12 certificate. Additionally, they need to have obtained a Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Public Management, or Public Administration at an NQF Level 7. No prior work experience is required for this position. A key requirement is that applicants must be residents of the City of Johannesburg. Furthermore, individuals who have previously participated in an internship program will only be considered if their prior internship was not relevant to their current course of study.

Primary Function of the Intern

The successful intern will be engaged in developmental-level professional administrative work. This will involve research and analysis to support the Business Management Directorate within the Department of Human Settlements. The intern will be involved in the daily operations of the department. This includes general office administration, monitoring and evaluation processes, risk management activities, and ensuring regulatory compliance. They will also provide administrative support related to human resources. The role further includes assisting with administrative tasks connected to long-term, medium-term, and short-term strategic planning initiatives.

Key Learning Areas

Interns will provide developmental-level professional administrative and support services within the Business Management Directorate. A significant part of the learning will involve assisting with site visits and conducting research analysis. This includes verifying reported information through on-site visits or physical risk assessments of ongoing projects. The intern will also support administrative tasks directly related to strategic planning processes. Other responsibilities may involve the secure transportation of sensitive and confidential documents by hand.
