Finance Internship Programme 2026
The Finance Internship Programme at Kouga Municipality is a three-year opportunity designed to expose interns to various aspects of public sector finance. Requirements for Finance Interns
To be considered for the Finance Internship Programme, applicants must meet specific educational and personal criteria. A relevant NQF Level 6 or NQF Level 7 qualification in a finance-related field is essential. This includes qualifications in Accounting, Financial Management, Public Finance, Economics, Risk Management, and Auditing. Applicants must also be between 18 and 35 years old. Strong communication skills, computer literacy (especially in Excel), and a keen attention to detail are important. Furthermore, candidates must be proficient in at least two of the official languages of Kouga Municipality: Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa. Areas of Training in Finance
Interns in the Finance Department will gain exposure to a wide range of essential functions. Training will cover public sector procurement processes, the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) 56 of 2003, and other relevant legislation. They will also learn about best practices and Treasury Regulations, developing negotiation, planning, and organizing skills. Performance monitoring and advanced report writing will be key components of the training, alongside the Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP).
Electro-Mechanical Department Internship 2026
Kouga Municipality is also offering an 18-month internship in the Electro-Mechanical Department. This program provides experiential learning opportunities for individuals pursuing careers in engineering and mechanics. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of R4,000. Preference will be given to applicants residing within the Kouga Local Municipality area.
Available Fields of Study in Electro-Mechanical
The Electro-Mechanical Department has several specific fields of study for internships. There are seven posts available for Electrical Engineering, requiring an N6 Certificate and a placement letter from a tertiary institution. Two posts are open for Mechanical Engineering, also requiring an N6 Certificate and a placement letter. Additionally, two posts are available for Mechanic qualifications, which require a Mechanic Trade Test Certificate and a placement letter. All applicants for these roles must be computer literate, between 18 and 35 years old, and possess good communication skills. Proficiency in at least two of the official languages of Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa) is also a requirement.
Internship Agreement
Successful candidates will be required to sign an internship agreement in addition to an employment contract.
