About the merSETA Internship Programme

Internship Overview

This program lasts 24 months and targets unemployed South African graduates aged 18 to 35. No prior internship experience is allowed, but some work experience may be needed. Positions are available at the head office and in regional offices across provinces.

Monthly Stipend

Interns receive a stipend based on their qualification level:

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6): R10,000 per month
  • Bachelor’s or BTech (NQF Level 7): R11,000 per month
  • Honours or Postgraduate (NQF Level 8+): R12,000 per month

These amounts help cover basic living costs during the program.

  • 16 posts total (2 per region)

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be aged 18 to 35 years
  • Be currently unemployed
  • Have no previous internship experience
  • Hold a National Diploma, Degree, or Honours in a relevant field
