The MMD Grant Facility 2026 has opened its second call for proposals. This funding chance targets groups working on migration, mobility, and policy changes between Africa and Europe. Launched on April 7, 2026, it supports projects that build stronger ties and smart solutions in these areas.
What the Grant Covers
The program funds short-term projects with big results. These efforts focus on key goals like better migration talks, matching policies across regions, new research, and handling new migration issues. It comes from the Directorate-General for International Partnerships under the Africa-EU Migration and Mobility Dialogue Support Programme. Past rounds showed strong results in cross-region work.
Funding Amounts and Rules
The full budget for this call sits at 600,000 euros. Each grant will fall between 100,000 and 150,000 euros. Groups can get up to 100% of their costs covered if they explain it well. This helps non-profits and research groups that lack extra funds.
Types of Projects That Qualify
Projects need to fit the MMD goals. They should support main migration talks like the Rabat Process, Khartoum Process, or C2CMMD. Work must create research, policy ideas, and data insights. Projects also match the Joint Valletta Action Plan or cover topics like climate migration, migration and gender, or migration and health.
Where Projects Can Happen and How Long They Last
Efforts can run in up to three countries. At least one must be an African Union member state. EU activities are okay, especially for diaspora groups. Projects last no more than six months and must end by March 1, 2027.
Who Can Apply
Non-profits and non-state groups qualify, such as civil society organizations, NGOs, diaspora groups, social enterprises, universities, and research centers. Lead applicants need two years of operation and registration in an AU or EU member state. You can add one co-applicant. EU leads must pair with an AU co-applicant unless they are diaspora groups. AU leads do not need partners. Groups funded in the first call cannot apply again.
How to Submit an Application
Use the ICMPD Electronic Application Platform. Each group can join only one application, as lead, co-applicant, or affiliate. Check the 2025 Annual Retrospective for past project wins.
