What the Internship Offers

Successful candidates will benefit from a structured 24-month internship programme. This includes gaining practical experience in their respective fields, which is crucial for career development. Participants will receive a monthly stipend to support them during the programme.

The programme offers exposure to professional work environments and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. Depending on the role and qualification level, the monthly stipends range from R6,000 to R7,500. This experience can significantly boost a graduate’s employability.

Programme Duration and Location

The MRTT Graduate Internship Programme is a 24-month commitment. The programme is set to begin on 01 October 2026. Internships will be based in two key locations within Mpumalanga: Emalahleni and Mbombela.

Minimum Requirements

All applicants must meet the specified minimum requirements for each position. These generally include a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate as a foundation. Further requirements are specific to the role and its NQF level.

  • Finance Administrator: National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 and a National Diploma in a finance-related qualification at NQF Level 6.
  • Human Resources & Administration: Grade 12 and a Degree or Advanced Diploma in a Human Resources Management-related qualification at NQF Level 7.
  • Legal Administrator: Grade 12 and a Degree or Advanced Diploma in Legal Studies at NQF Level 7.
  • Project Management: Grade 12 and a Degree or Advanced Diploma in Project Management at NQF Level 7.
  • Assessor: Hospitality/Culinary Studies: Grade 12 and a National Diploma in Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts at NQF Level 6.
  • Risk Management and Audit: An NQF Level 6 qualification in Accounting, Internal Auditing, or Risk Management.

Competencies Required

While specific qualifications are essential, certain skills and personal attributes will also be considered. These competencies help ensure that interns can perform effectively and make the most of the learning opportunity.

  • Ability to manage debtors, creditors, assets, revenue, and expenditure (for Finance Administrator).
  • Proficiency in HR generalist functions, labour relations, and payroll (for HR & Admin).
  • Skills in handling legal queries and providing support on legal matters (for Legal Administrator).
  • Capability in providing project direction, resource allocation, and monitoring (for Project Management).
  • Competence in planning and conducting assessments (for Assessor).
  • Skills in identifying and updating risks, and conducting basic risk assessments (for Risk Management & Audit).
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new environments.
