Internship Details and Objectives

The Human Resources Intern position is part of the Directorate: Corporate Services. This one-year fixed-term contract aims to equip graduates with essential skills and knowledge in Human Resources Management. The program focuses on providing hands-on experience in various HR functions, preparing interns for future careers in the field. Successful candidates will receive a remuneration of R100,000 per annum.

Key Requirements for Applicants

To be considered for this HR internship, candidates must possess a Degree or National Diploma in Human Resources or a related field. A certified copy of the academic record with results is mandatory. Applicants should be proficient in MS Office and have effective communication skills in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages. The age requirement is between 21 and 35 years old. Additionally, candidates must be residents of the Central Karoo region and be physically fit. A valid driver’s license is considered an advantage.

Areas of Exposure During the Internship

The internship program offers exposure to a wide range of Human Resources functions. These include recruitment and selection processes, employee relations, performance management, and training and development. Interns will also gain experience in labor relations, records management, payroll support, and general HR administration. Understanding municipal policies, procedures, and relevant legislative frameworks applicable to local government is also a key component of the training.
