The Chartered Accountant Career Path

Bursary recipients follow these steps to qualify as a CA(SA):

  1. Complete an Accounting Sciences degree.
  2. Earn an Honours or CTA qualification.
  3. Serve a SAICA training contract, known as articles.
  4. Pass board exams.
  5. Become a qualified Chartered Accountant.

The bursary covers the first step in this path.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you need to meet these basics:

  • Hold South African citizenship.
  • Belong to the Royal Bafokeng Nation.
  • Be accepted for Accounting Sciences (CA stream).
  • Start first year in 2027.
  • Attend a SAICA-recognised university.

Academic Requirements

Your Grade 12 results must show:

  • Mathematics at Level 5 or higher.
  • English at Level 5 or higher.
  • Accounting at Level 5 or higher.

Note that Mathematical Literacy and Technical Maths do not count.

Funding Restrictions

You cannot hold this bursary with any other funding. This includes NSFAS, private bursaries, corporate bursaries, or SETA funding. Check your current awards before applying.

Required Documents

Submit certified copies of:

  • Your South African ID (no older than 3 months).
  • Proof of residence from Lekwalo la Kgosana.
  • Grade 11 results.
  • Grade 12 Term 1-3 results.
  • Matric certificate (when available).
  • Proof of university acceptance (provisional or final).

Ensure all copies are clear and certified properly.
