The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Call for Proposals 2026 offers a chance for groups to win up to $500,000. This funding aims to build a fairer health system in the U.S. by using ideas from other countries. If your organization wants to fight health inequities, this could be a great fit.

Purpose of the Funding

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) wants to break down structural racism and health barriers. This call for proposals focuses on projects that learn from places outside the U.S. These projects should create strong health knowledge systems here at home. The goal is to promote health equity, justice, and well-being through community-led work. This includes generating, saving, and sharing stories that make health systems more inclusive, especially during tough times.

Awards Available

RWJF plans to give out up to 15 awards. Each one can be worth up to $500,000. Ask for only what your project needs so more groups can get funded. Bigger awards often support things like salaries for several people or multiple activities.

Who Can Apply

U.S.-based organizations or those in U.S. territories can apply. Teams with U.S. and international members are welcome, but the work must improve health equity in the U.S. Projects only outside the U.S. do not qualify. RWJF encourages leaders from groups facing extra challenges today, such as Indigenous people, Black and Latino communities, LGBTQ+ members, immigrants, and other marginalized groups. They welcome all backgrounds and do not favor or exclude based on race, gender, or other traits.

Your organization must be new to RWJF funding. If you received any RWJF money since January 1, 2021—even through a fiscal sponsor—you cannot apply. Biomedical, clinical, or lab science projects are not eligible. You can use a fiscal sponsor for money management if needed. International groups can apply and may get funds through the RWJF Global Ideas Fund.

How to Submit Your Application

The deadline is April 13, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. GMT+1. Start your application here. For full details, check the RWJF page.
