Are you a South African graduate ready to start a career as a Chartered Accountant? The Sanlam CA Traineeships 2026/2027 provide a clear path through the SAICA Trainee Accountant (TOPP Programme). This three-year program helps you build skills for real financial work.

Programme Overview

Sanlam Group offers this training for unemployed graduates in Cape Town, Western Cape. It meets South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) standards. Trainees rotate through business units to learn practical skills, gain exposure, and develop technical knowledge needed to become a CA(SA).

The program lasts three years. You will see how financial operations work in the real world. It also covers strategic decisions in finance.

What the Programme Offers

Trainees build key skills during rotations. These include ethics and professional conduct. You will learn business and financial strategy, plus decision-making and problem-solving.

Other areas cover internal audit and governance, risk management, financial reporting, and taxation. The program also teaches digital and business acumen. This setup gives broad experience in financial services.

Minimum Requirements

You need a CTA (Certificate in the Theory of Accountancy) or a SAICA-recognised postgraduate qualification. Maintain a minimum 60% academic average. Be eligible to write the Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC).

It helps if you joined university or community groups. Know basic Microsoft Office tools.

Key Skills and Attributes

Strong financial and accounting knowledge is a must. Work well alone or in teams. Show good decision-making and analytical skills.
