What the Bursary Covers

The Sasol Mainstream Bursaries 2027 pay for several key costs. They cover full tuition fees at your university. You also get help with accommodation and other study expenses.

On top of money, the programme includes structured mentorship. This support helps you grow skills during school. After studies, you may join Sasol’s development programme for new graduates.

Fields of Study

Sasol funds specific degrees in engineering and science. Check if your planned course matches before you apply.

Undergraduate Degrees (BEng or BSc)

These fields qualify for bachelor’s level:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Chemistry (up to Honours)
  • Geology (up to Honours)
  • Data Science (includes Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research)

For BEng Tech, only Mine Surveying at a University of Technology works.

Postgraduate Degrees (MSc, MEng, or PhD)

Advanced studies in these areas are open:

  • Chemical Engineering (focus on Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Process Modelling)
  • Chemistry (Catalysis, Polymer Science, Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry)
  • Cyber Security
  • Data Science (Applied Mathematics, Statistics)

Minimum Requirements

You must meet these basics to apply for Sasol Mainstream Bursaries 2027. First, be a South African citizen. You also need to be under 30 years old.

Plan to study full-time at a recognised university. Show strong grades in school. Math is required, but not Maths Literacy. Only full degree programmes count, no diplomas. Distance learning like UNISA does not qualify.

Important Conditions

Follow these rules to stay in the running. Submit only one application per person. Use the online system only, no emails.

Incomplete forms get rejected right away. The process is competitive, based on your grades and Sasol’s needs. Late submissions after May 17, 2026, will not count.
