Bursary Value

The funding covers key costs for students. It pays for tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and an accommodation allowance. The total value ranges from R30 000 to R60 000, based on the course and school.

Work-Back Obligation

Once studies end, recipients must work for Shoprite Group. The rule is one year of work for each year of funding received. This helps the company get skilled staff right away.

Minimum Requirements

All applicants need to meet basic rules. They must be South African citizens, 27 years old or younger, have completed Matric, and study at a recognized tertiary institution.

Field-Specific Requirements

Requirements change by field:

Accounting (CA Stream)

Study BCom Accounting or BAcc (CA stream). Be in 2nd to 4th year, or PGDA/CTA. Hold a minimum 65% average, plus 65% in Accounting, Auditing, and Tax.

Biological & Agricultural Sciences

Pursue agriculture-related qualifications. Maintain a minimum 60% average.

Retail Business Management

Study a Diploma in Retail Business Management. Keep a minimum 60% average.

Supply Chain & Logistics

Study Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operational Research. Achieve a minimum 60% average.

Selection Process

Shoprite reviews applications after the deadline. Shortlisted candidates hear back within 30 days. Internal candidates might get priority. No feedback means the application did not succeed.
