Structural Steel Foreman Apprenticeship Programme 2019

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Oversee and be responsible to assist the Superintendent in all erection activities on all structural steel to project schedule.

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

• The appointed candidate must have at least 3 years’ experience in the field of Structural. Previous rigging experience in this type of position on a similar project would be an advantage.
• Experience with the use of the tools of the trade i.e. dumpy levels, micrometres, Theodolites etc. is compulsory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A recognized trade in the field of structural with N3 or equivalent NQF level.
• Apprenticeship with technical qualification or degree/diploma

Key Responsibilities

• Control man hours allowed for erection, ensure all budgets are met or improved. This includes updating construction schedules and assisting with drawing up of construction schedules.
• Ensure high standards of safety and quality are adhered to.
• Assist the Supervisor in running the site in a safe manner and within budget and on time.
• Must be able to work unsupervised and lead a team.
• Must report all deviations from the scope of work timeously in writing to the Superintendent
• Must be able to read erection drawings.
• Must be able to read and interpret survey reports for elevations/erection and position.
• Must be able to read and interpret Work Packs andQCP’s
• Be responsible to complete the PTO, VFL’s DSTI’s documents and daily diary.
• Know and understand project erection procedures, work instructions and protocols.
