University of the Western Cape (UWC), in partnership with the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA), offers a great chance for South African students through the UWC W&RSETA Administrative Internships 2026. This program gives hands-on experience in a real work setting. It helps bridge the space between school studies and actual jobs in the retail and business world.

Internship Overview

The position is for an Administrative Intern aimed at TVET or CET students. It falls under the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences in the Wholesale & Retail Leadership Chair. The internship lasts for a fixed term and pays a stipend of R9 000 each month.
This is a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) program. Students get practical skills in research, admin tasks, and working with others in the sector.

Purpose of the Internship

The main goal is to build skills in key areas like administrative coordination, research support, stakeholder engagement, and project help. It also covers documentation and reporting.
The program pushes forward entrepreneurship, transformation, and sustainability in wholesale and retail. Students learn by doing real tasks that match classroom knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Interns handle a mix of daily tasks to support the team.

Administrative Support

Assist with office admin work. Keep filing systems up to date, both digital and paper. Prepare papers and letters as needed.

Meeting Coordination

Set up meeting times. Make agendas and gather documents. Record minutes and follow up on action points.

Stakeholder Engagement

Help run workshops and events. Talk with partners and keep contact lists current.

Data & Research Support

Gather data through surveys. Sort research info. Organize it for easy use.

Reporting & Documentation

Put together reports and slide shows. Support project files. Create useful knowledge materials.

Minimum Requirements

You need a qualification in fields like Wholesale and Retail Management, Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or something similar. This ensures you have the right background for the role.

Required Skills

Know the basics of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Have solid writing and speaking skills. Be organized, work well in groups, manage time, and pay attention to details.

Added Advantages

Extra points if you know the wholesale and retail sector. Past work with research or data helps too. Understanding higher education or skills training systems is a plus.
