Main Job Duties

In the learnership, you will handle several tasks:

  • Help sell Schedule 1 medicines.
  • Prepare non-sterile medicines with guidance.
  • Unpack, arrange, and organize stock in the dispensary.
  • Read prescriptions under supervision.
  • Pick, pack, label, and check medications.
  • Track stock levels and check expiry dates.
  • Answer patient questions and do follow-ups.
  • Help with approvals for chronic medicines, like those for HIV or cancer.
  • Give basic health advice to patients.
  • Follow all pharmacy rules and standard procedures.

Entry Requirements

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • Pure Mathematics and Physical Science or Life Science passes.
  • An average mark of at least 50%.
  • Willingness to finish the pharmacist assistant course.
